Where the Snow Falls (Seasons of Betrayal, #2)

4 "Love comes with Conditions" Stars We begin book two with Kazimir "Kaz" Markovic being released from his punishment his father handed out. But while Kaz was out of the real world away from the one woman that meant more to him, he kept himself busy by plotting, contemplating, and becoming smarter than what his father gave him credit for. "Men like me... We need declaration. It's no longer about just bending rules or breaking them even." Kaz has set a plan in motion that no one is really of aware of and what roles they will play, but what a better place to lay low for a while than with friends he has made along the way that just happen to be enemies of his enemy. Vasily knows his son is up to no good and is willing to go the extra mile to make examples out of his children, and Kaz in no exception to the rule. While Violet Gallucci is still under her father's rein of terror. She now see's that she is willing to give everything up for the one man that has been forbidden. Her heart can no longer be persuade, she would do anything she can to be with the one man who makes her feel safe and who can keep the monsters at bay. "She'd always choose to walk toward him-- she'd already done that several times over. There was no walking away. There would never be any walking away." Throughout the story the plot began to entertain me more and more along the way. The betrayals are around every corner from both sides of the spectrum. Family is suppose to be a treasured gift within the circle of Mafia men, they stick by their loyalty, honor, and word, but it seems like the Markovic and Gallucci will spare no life to get what they want. Power is a dangerous thing for a man to loose control in. You just have to know when to step back before it ruins you. The intrigue of the book kept me cheering for Kaz and Violet to get their HEA. I love how ruthless Kaz is when it comes to controlling the situation to his advantage. I also kept thinking of multiple ways for Vasily and Violet's father, Alberto to meet their makers. But atlas, when getting to the ending I couldn't believe the way the ending was left. Being careful can only lead you so far and the confidence to believe that the situation would be so easy to end just comes around and sucker punches you in the throat. I cannot wait for book three in the Seasons of Betrayal. I need to know how it will all end and if the the snow will be left with red tint in its path.
